Competition Results -

Mane Event 3-Day in Ocala, Florida. Our experience at the Ocala Three-Day was rewarding, and was Zeb and Artful Way's three-day debut. We were thoroughly impressed with the organizers and greatly appreciate all of the volunteers that were needed to run the competition. It was a 'Who's-Who' in celebrity Eventers such as Bruce Davidson, John Williams, David O'Connor, Sally O'Connor, Jim Wofford.
Zeb and Artful Way (Ray) were the first competitors ever to run the Training Three-Day and was congratulated by the director of the park as we were in the 10 minute box. The pair had a brilliant run through Phases A,B,C, and D, and made the course look like child's play. We soon made the decision that it was time to move up to Preliminary.
The Training cross country seemed to present few problems for the competitors. I walked the course and hoped to see a bit more of a championship type course- I often wonder if there could be a miniaturized Preliminary course designed, since the transition from Training to Preliminary is such a step up. If horse and rider could be challenged a bit more over narrows, corners, and more combinations it might give them a better idea of whether they were prepared to go to the next level. Obviously, this might prevent horse and rider from being disallusioned about moving up the levels too fast.
The week we spent at the horsepark was fun and successful and I was able to catch up with some old aquaintances. Zeb and Ray finished the event in 10th place, with a clean and tidy stadium round and I look forward to their upcoming season at Prelim.
